I first saw the Rollason Beta as a stick and tissue rubber powered freeflight model, liked the lines and dug up some 3views. The Beta was a fairly successful British racer in the 60's. As far as I've been able to discover, 7 were built. I was intrigued by the "bent" wing and full cylindrical fuselage and decided to try for a standoff scale look with conventional airfoil. These features made the build a lot more complex than my typical onesheeters, but they also made the plane fast! The prototype has gained weight during development, so flys fast and lands fast, but is great fun to fly. Note: this kit comes with laser cut ply pieces for the motor mount, and wing mounting tabs and sockets!
